Welcome to “Pocket Times Tables” an Android smartphone and Tab application by Janat Al-Firdous Software Enterprise.

 “Pocket Times Table” is an application that makes it very easy for children to learn their 12 times tables.

On the learning screen a child can choose a number from 1 to 12 listed in a column on the left, and, a number from 1 to 12 listed in a column on the right. Then, when the OK button is selected, the answer of the chosen numbers multiplied together is displayed along with a numbered grid, of blocks, also illustrating the same result. Shortly following that, the multiplication equation with the answer, is recited, in English, on your Android smartphone or Tab.

The advantages of this application are:

1.   The numbers to be multiplied are easily selected, using a very robust graphical-user-interface method.

2.   The multiplication equation, with the answer, is clearly displayed, along with a numbered grid, of blocks, to further reinforce the answer to the multiplication.

3.   The multiplication equation, with answer, is recited slowly, so that this gives any child ample time to listen to the chosen multiplication, and its answer, should they rely on listening skills more than reading ones.

“Pocket Arabic Alphabet” is a simple application that anyone can use to learn the Arabic alphabet.

On the learning screen the tiles that contain the Arabic letters are nice and big; roughly six tiles fit on a screen at once. This makes the app good for kids and the elderly who may find it difficult to use their fingers accurately, because, kids are inexperienced and the elderly may be impaired in old age.

Some similar apps display all the Arabic letters on a single screen, displaying them all at once. Due to problems of kids and the elderly we did not do this as the tiles would be too small for fingers and impaired eye-sight.

As an added benefit the tiles on our app scroll; which adds interest and novelty to the app.

In “Pocket Arabic Alphabet” the end-user has full control over access to the letters which some other apps lack.

Having the Arabic letter tiles scroll gives kids an opportunity to use an additional skill in using ICT, in this case a Smartphone or Tab. It makes kids search for the letters they want to improve on in learning. In adding more physical activity to the exercise the Arabic letters are more likely to stick in the mind of a child or adult helping them to retain the Arabic letters in memory to aid learning.
